Shanghai Institute for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences (SIMIS)
In August 2024, the Shanghai Institute for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences (SIMIS) moved into its new home at Knowledge & Innovation Community in Yangpu District.
Supported by Shanghai Municipality, Yangpu District, and Fudan University, SIMIS aims to become a world-class platform for fundamental and interdisciplinary research, bringing together leading research and talent in Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta.
Innovation, exploration, and knowledge sharing are at the heart of science. Aurora’s activa agile workplace solution provides workstations, meeting rooms, training areas, and discussion spaces that balance focused work with open collaboration, encouraging interdisciplinary exchange and innovation.
Research focuses on fundamental and applied mathematics, as well as interdisciplinary applications in AI and biomedicine, addressing major scientific questions and real-world challenges.
Discussion Spaces Everywhere
Open discussion areas bring the institute’s spirit of exploration to life through constant exchange and idea sharing.
A mix of open, informal settings invites spontaneous conversations and fresh thinking. From private meeting rooms with writable walls to flexible Code high tables and Sandwich sofas, the space makes it easy to connect, exchange ideas, and spark cross-disciplinary innovation.
A Quiet Place to Recharge
The reading area features Aurora’s Booky collection, named after its connection to “book” and a love of learning. Its clean, light design pairs naturally with Moca lounge chairs, creating a refined and inviting setting for quiet reading and reflection.
A Research Hub Built for Innovation and Collaboration
Aurora’s HOS workstations balance focused work with easy collaboration, creating a clear, efficient workplace that supports top talent and world-class research.
